It is difficult for me to inform you that I have decided to close my medical practice effective February 1, 2015. I am currently not accepting any new patients and will not take on any new obstetric cases.

Many of you have asked me over the years, "Dr. Russell, how do you do it?" I have always answered that I love my job, and that I have a very supportive family who makes it all possible. I still do love my job, but the pace has taken its toll on my family, so I will be moving on to a position outside of New York City with less time on call.

The office will continue to operate during its normal business hours Monday through Thursday until January 29th. Go to the "FORMS" page and download the "HIPPA RECORD RELEASE FORM" which is a legal NYS form permitting me to release your medical records to your new physician. Please sign it and return to the office as soon as you can to help the continuty of your care. Once my office is no longer functioning out of 131 Forest Avenue, I will have information here on this site for further information concerning obtaining your medical records.

I recommend that you continue your care with Dr. Alecia Giovinazzo. Dr. Giovinazzo is a dear friend and colleague whom I have known for over 10 years. She is a compassionate physician with excellent clinical judgement and surgical skills. Some of you may have already interacted with her since she covers for me from time to time. As many of you know, she delivered my children, which is the highest recommendation I can give. Dr. Giovinazzo's office is located at 732 Broadway. Her phone number (718) 494-2690. She and I will work together to make this transition as easy as possible for everyone.

Please know that I have been honored to take part in your care. And for those of you whom I've been lucky enough to deliver, I was thrilled to be a part of the greatest day of your lives. Good luck and good health to all of you.
